Road Journals tells the story of a 30,000-mile motorcycle trip across the United States after the end of a baseball career and the path that eventually led to El Porto, California.
Woodrow "Pack" Landfair first arrived in El Porto, California after working his way through a 48-state motorcycle odyssey and selling his first novel, the subject of Road Journals (Harbinger May 12, 2026). Inspired by El Porto's many international customers, he is on a quest to surf every coastal nation on earth. The people met and philosophies learned along the way are the subject of his 2027 sequal, Surf Journals, Vol. 1
ABOUT PACK
Woodrow "Pack" Landfair is an author, surfer, and owner of El Porto Surf Shop in El Porto, California. After playing baseball at the University of Texas while on a Navy ROTC scholarship, he pawned his 2005 National Championship ring - and all his possesions - to travel across all 48 contigious states by motorcycle, later publishing the novel Land of The Free (2014) and Road Journals (2026) the real-time week-by-week diary of the trip. He now runs the neighborhood surf shop, organizes the El Porto Surf Contest, and is building the Porto Surf Crew surfwear brand.
Since 2020, Pack has surfed in 19 countries - and re-visited 47 states in his surf bus, along with his dog and varying girlfriends - on a personal quest to surf every coastline on planet earth, the subject of Road Journal's 2027 sequal Surf Journals, Vol 1.
